(Using a source port would also have the side bonus that I would no longer have to put up with Steam's idiotic misspelling of the name it's 'Hexen' (meaning 'witches') for goodness' sake, not 'He Xen' (meaning nothing).)Any recommendations (preferably with links)? I suspect that this would also be the only way I could run Heretic II (which I have on order from Amazon UK) and Portal of Praevus (still looking for that one). Each hub features multiple levels that can be explored in any order, with the goal being to unlock the next realm by defeating. Width 1024 -bpp 32 to the Hexen II start parameters but although this makes the game work properly with Windows 8, it causes another problem in that the text isn't scaled to the new res, and is thus hard to read especially with my aging eyesight (and the low contrast of the red text with the dark-but-not-quite-black background doesn't help either).As the title of this thread implies, I think the permanent solution would be to use a source port, as I do with the Doom-engine games including the original Hexen. Deathkings of the Dark Citadel is the official expansion pack to 1996's first-person fantasy game, Hexen, adding 20 single-player levels spread across three new hubs: Ruined Village, Blight, and Constable's Gate. ![]()
